If this is a ‘post-incident’ evaluation, you will get a non-biased and non-partial picture as to where your driver really stands. This can go a long way if insurance or authorities are involved.

  Although a great lead source, sometimes the drawback with an in-house trainer or evaluator is that they may feel some pressure to ‘help out’ the potential new hire as they are usually friends or family of a co-worker. Not that you wouldn’t trust your in-house person to do their job, but if they were to simply overlook something that may appear small (because it's 'Johnny's nephew') it could have a far more significant outcome. As we have no investment in the outcome, we promise to give you a very clear picture. You are our client and it is our business to protect yours. We look out for your interests. Period!

  We will pre-screen drivers for you to make sure that you are getting the most qualified and safest applicants.  Our criteria are based on government standards and can also be tailored to incorporate your company’s internal policies. We analyze overall ability, suitability, safety, judgment, observation, decision making, knowledge and adherence to rules. We instruct them to treat the evaluation as though they were starting their shift or approaching the unit for the first time of the day. 

For commercial vehicles they will be performing several skill testing procedures. These typically include a complete pre-trip and air brake test, an un-couple and re-couple procedure as well as back up maneuvers. They are informed that they must both perform the actions as well as explain to us what they are doing. This gives us a clear picture of how they routinely do each of these steps and helps us evaluate their understanding of both what and why they are doing it.  You will be provided with a copy of the corresponding checklists as well as a very detailed and comprehensive play by play summary of the evaluation.  We will include any findings and provide useful recommendations. If any further documentation is needed (i.e. Pictures etc.), this will also be provided. You will therefore be able to make clear decisions about the driver and their future at your company. This can either confirm a good driver, avoid potential headache drivers or turn a driver that has a few habits into a great driver with a little hands-on training and mentoring.
